Why a gold baby bangle matters
Across South Asia, one of the first piece of gold a child wears is a bangle — kada in North India, murugulu or vala in the South. It’s a tradition rooted in three ideas: gold is auspicious, real metal won’t trigger skin reactions, and a piece of value gifted at birth grows with the child. The Sapphire Sorbet gold baby bangle range honours that tradition while being engineered for the realities of infant wear.
14K vs 18K for Gold baby bangles
14K gold (58.5% pure): harder, more scratch-resistant, ideal for everyday wear and active toddlers. Slightly paler colour. Best value per gram.
18K gold (75% pure): richer yellow colour, holds its appearance longer, the traditional ceremonial choice. Slightly softer than 14K but still durable for baby wear.
We don’t offer 22K for baby bangles by default — it’s too soft to hold its shape under the constant rubbing and grabbing that comes with infant wear. If you specifically want 22K, ask us before ordering.
